| A picture from the morning of our engagement. October 29, 2011 |
October 29, 2011 was supposed to be an ordinary Saturday. Robert and I had plans to run errands in the afternoon after he got off work around 11am. Around 9am I remember being woken up to the sound of a door slamming in the living room, but I assumed it was my mom starting her Saturday. Shortly after that my bedroom door flung opened and I heard the pitter patter of my puppy Chanel climb into bed with me. She gets VERY excited when she's allowed out of her kennel so as you can imagine she jumped all over my head and wanted to give me kisses on my face.
Half asleep I realized it was Robert who brought her in I asked him why he was there so early. I got no response. I remember asking him questions but he wasn't saying anything. He turned on the light (which he knows I hate when I'm trying to sleep!) pulled the covers off of my head and told me to put on my glasses.

He turned on the light (which he knows I hate when I'm trying to sleep!) pulled the covers off of my head and told me to put on my glasses.
As he knelt down next to my bed, he took my hand and started to get choked up as his first words were "I know you're so mad at me for waking you up right now." He continued with a very sweet speech that will remain between he and I, and then asked me to be his wife! I couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing, so I asked "Are you serious?!" He drew my attention to Chanel's collar where he had placed the most beautiful (hand picked by the way) ring! I said yes of course! :)
Then he proceeded to make me breakfast; eggs and bacon (my favorite). He knew that I didn't want to be asked in public, but he also wanted to surprise me. His plan was to use three things I love dearly. My sleep, my puppy, and my breakfast! He certainly knows who he's marrying! And I couldn't have asked for a better proposal. Not only did he incorporate the things I love, but he also recruited my mom to help him out. Little did I know the day before he visited my mom, and asked for my hand in marriage. She did such a good job keeping it a secret, but not nearly as good as my grandpa did. Two months prior to Robert asking me to be his wife, he took my grandpa out golfing and also asked him for my hand in marriage. He didn't have to, but he knew how much that would mean to me.
